Methodfield’s Fiction Lab has grown from a shelf of individual analyses into a connected learning system. The redesigned section now links twenty works, seventeen management themes, thirteen recurring patterns, eleven original cases, guided collections and full comparison matrices.
Ten new systems to examine
The release adds original bilingual analyses of:
- Jurassic Park — safeguards that appear independent but share one vulnerable assumption;
- The Player of Games — metrics that move from observation to allocation and governance;
- Blindsight — the evidence required before fluent behaviour is treated as competence;
- The Dark Forest — strategy when another actor’s intentions cannot be verified;
- Seveneves — emergency authority, expiry and institutional memory;
- The Invincible — emergent systems with no central controller;
- The Martian — operations where the binding constraint keeps moving;
- The Lifecycle of Software Objects — long-term stewardship, portability and exit for AI systems;
- The Dispossessed — informal hierarchy inside formally flat organisations;
- Children of Time — distributed learning without one central planner.
Each page separates a verified public premise from Methodfield’s editorial interpretation. System maps, failure modes, practical transfers, ethical assessment, discussion questions and limits of analogy remain visible throughout.
A graph, not a reading list
Readers can now enter through a management theme, recognise a diagnostic pattern, inspect the mechanism in a work and then test a decision in an original case. Curated collections preserve a clear learning sequence, while published comparisons use the same eight dimensions across both systems.
The work library, theme catalogue, pattern library and case library now support search or filters. The Fiction Lab home page stays selective: it shows six works at most and routes deeper exploration into the catalogue.
Decisions, not quiz scores
Every new case contains three connected decisions. New evidence appears at each step; choices reveal immediate effects and hidden trade-offs. The final output is a qualitative profile across evidence use, reversibility, authority clarity, risk distribution and ethical accountability—not an artificial numerical score.
Original visual direction
Ten new cinematic, system-oriented illustrations give every added work a distinct atmosphere without reproducing commercial covers, characters, protected scenes or publisher artwork. The visual language focuses on dependencies, flows, constraints, signals and emergent behaviour.
