Methodfield has published a new bilingual AI Systems guide: Not every AI automation needs an LLM.
The article replaces the vague question “Which model should we use?” with two separate design decisions:
- what must the system do—perceive, predict, optimise, understand, create or act;
- what is the minimum authority it needs—from a personal tool to a controlled, narrow autonomous loop.
A practical map, not an autonomy race
The guide introduces Methodfield's A0–A5 authority bands and explicitly identifies them as an authored design aid rather than an industry or legal standard. It also shows how deterministic rules, specialised models, language models and agents can work together without making one probabilistic component the source of truth.
Selected public cases from BMW, UPS, a peer-reviewed customer-support study, METR and Google DeepMind are used as contextual evidence. Company-reported figures and the limits of each study are clearly labelled.
The release includes complete English and Russian editions, an accessible mobile-ready selection matrix and a new optimised editorial visual.
